William "Bill" Lane 65 year-old Ketchum resident, died early today in Muskogee Veterans Administration Hospital following an extended illness.

He was born Feb 15, 1921 in Norfork, Ark. and worked as a machinist, retiring in 1977.

He served with the Ninth Armored Division of the U. S. Army during World War II and took part in the Battle of the Bulge. He was awarded the Purple Heart in 1945 and also received three bronze service stars.

Survivors include his wife, Geraldine May Lane of the home in Ketchum; son, Vernon Lane, Tulsa; two grandchildren, Vernon Lane, Jr. and Vickie Lane, both of Tulsa; brothers, Junior Lane, Fort Worth, Texas, Dean Lane, Irving, Texas and Andrew Lane, Tulsa; three sisters, Jewell McNeil, Edna Myers, Alma, Kan and Mabel Cowart, Baldwin Park, Kan.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Ketchum United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jack Nester officiating.

Interment will be in Ketchum Cemetery. Arrangements are by the Luginbuel Funeral Service, Vinita.

Calico Rock Progress, Calico Rock, AR - Feb 2, 1945 Wounded in Action - Harrison Lane of Old Joe has received a telegram from the War Department, notifying him that his son, Pvt. William V. Lane had been slightly wounded in action in Belgium.
