He and Miss Lucinda Clingman(Klingman) were united in marriage at Menomonie, Wisconsin, February 12, 1866. the christian faith fifty years ago and joined the Methodist church at Knapp, Wisconsin. He was a devoted husband and father, a congenial neighbor and a good citizen.
The funeral services were conducted by the writer in New Herman church and his remains were laid to rest in the New Herman Cemetery Sunday afternoon, February 5, 1922. An unusually large number of friends accompanied the body to its last resting place and in their kindly administrations gave evidence of their love and friendship for both the deceased man and the family that he had left behind.
Mr. Bailey was blessed with both a large posterity--having had given to him 36 grandchildren and four great grandchildren--and a long life, but life at its greatest length is but of short duration. The Psalmist says, "The days of our years are three score years and ten, and if by reason of strength they be four score years, yet is their strength labour and sorrow, for it is soon cut off and we fly away. So teach us to number our days that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom." --- H. A. Stroud
