Born in the Williamsburg county section of Andrews, he was the son of Lorenzo Johnny Cox and Mettie Adell Godwin Cox.
Shorty was a retired 40+ yr. employee of Oneita Industries. He was a member of the Pine Crest Baptist Church. He loved fishing, hunting, and Nascar.
Shorty and Patsy were married on June 25, 1954, and celebrated 54 years together. He is survived by Patsy and from their bless union also survive three children, Jack Edward Cox, Patricia C. (Rev. Lee) Walters, both of Andrews, and Bobby R. (Carol) Cox of Georgetown; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Wayne (Harriett) Cox of Andrews; three sisters, Hattie Cantley, Maggie Cribb, and Lucille Player, all of Andrews; extended family, Dessie Cox of Florence, Betty Cox of Andrews, Louise Cox of Kingstree.
He was predeceased by his parents; three brothers, Ralph Cox, Lorenzo Cox, and Warren Cox; and one sister, Lolabell Cox.
