DEATH CLAIMS MR. NORTHAM
Clarence W. Northam, 75, R.R. 1 Arlington, died at 9:00 p.m. Monday at Rush County Hospital at Rushville.
A retired farmer, Mr. Northam had served 16 years as assessor and trustee of Posey Township, Rush County. He was owner of the former Rush County Hatchery and state champion in both rifle and pistol matches in 1942.
Mr. Northam, a World War I veteran of the Marine Corps, was a member of Willard E. Hensley American Legion Post at Morristown and a charter member of Victory Post, American Legion, Rifle and Pistol Team. He was a member of the Blue River Wesleyan Methodist Church, Carthage Masonic Lodge and Arlington Lions Club.
Born Aug. 29, 1900, in Rush County in the home in which he lived all his life, Mr. Northam was the son of Job Walter and Amanda (Gordon) Northam. He married Hattie Fessler and she died Dec. 17, 1968. He then married Nina Moore on May 31, 1970 and she survives with one son, Richard F. Northam, Indianapolis, and two daughters, Mrs. Edwin (Rosemary) Johnson, Suisun, Calif., and Mrs. Virgil (Joan) Parks, Miami, Fla.
Also surviving are two step-daughters, Mrs. James (Norma) Ross, Gwynneville, and Mrs. Margaret Meador, Indianapolis; 13 grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Mary Hester, R.R. 1 Arlington.
Mr. Northam was the youngest of 10 children.
Services will be Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at the Blue River Wesleyan Methodist Church, west of Arlington, with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call at Moster and Sons Mortuary, Rushville, after 2:00 p.m. Wednesday.
