She married first to D. C. Jones. They had one child, Robert (Bobby) Jones. She married second to Jabe Jackson Whirley.

Virginia was born January 10, 1922 in Colorado City to Melvin Pierce and Kathryn (Witt) Dorn. She was a graduate of Colorado High School. She married Jabe Whirley in August, 1945 in Colorado City. Virginia moved to Bowie in 1989 and worked as a Secretary and Bookkeeper for the City of Bowie. She loved reading, attending garage sales, and arts and crafts. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jabe Whirley; two brothers and one sister. Virginia is survived by her son, Robert Jones and his wife, Linda of Bowie; grandchildren; Robert Jones, Jr. of Wichita Falls, Deborah Custer and her husband, Aaron of Dickson OK, and Lee Ann Stark and her husband, Todd of Nocona; six great-grandchildren; brother, Melvin Pierce Dorn, Jr. and his wife, Shirley; sister, Christine Bell all of Colorado City.
