Ann M. Whorton, 73, of Benton, formerly of Malvern, died Thursday, Feb. 4, 1993, at the Saline Memorial in Benton. She was born Dec. 31, 1917, in Tuttle, ND to the late Andrew B. Anderson and Anna B. Olson Anderson. She was married to Doyle R. Whorton, who preceded her in death in 1991. She was an active member of Holland Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, served as a Sunday School teacher, Ladies' auxiliary teacher and was a member of the Golden Age Choir. A past volunteer of the Hot Spring County Senior Adult Center and a member of the Board of the Area (?) Aging, she was a current volunteer for the Saline County Senior Adult Center. She served as past reporter for the senior citizens news column in the Malvern Daily Record. And was retired from the Malvern School cafeteria system. Survivors include 5 sons, Richard Whorton of Cuyana Valley, CA, Robert Whorton of Malvern, Darryl Whorton of Hot Springs, Larry Whorton and Lonny Whorton both of Benton, two brothers, Albert Anderson of Lake Preston, SD and Pete Anderson of Wichita, KS; one sister, Mary Mordt of Belvedere, Illinois, 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday Feb.8, at Landmark Missionary Baptist Church. Elder Wayne Newton, Elder Jim Harrell and Elder Kim Hammer will officiate. Burial will be in Ouachita Cemetery near Donaldson, under the direction of Atkinson Funeral Service. Pallbearers will be Robert Meek, Garland Gore, Tony Hall, John Burnett, Ron Gray, and Paul Seward. Honorary pallbearers are Ricky Crites and Tommy Taylor. Visitation will be Sunday, Feb. 7 from 2-4 p.m. at the funeral home. The family will be meeting at the home of Bob Whorton in Central and at the home of Larry Whorton at 61 Denton St., Benton.
