Darryl Lee Whorton of Norman died Thursday, May 3, 2001. He was 59. He was born January 12, 1942, in Harvard, Illinois. He was a carpenter and was of the Missionary Baptist faith. Whorton was preceded in death by his parents, Doyle Ray and Ann M. (Anderson) Whorton; and a brother, Robert Whorton. Survivors include two sons, Darryl Lee Jr. and his wife Chandra Whorton of Benton and Herbert Whorton Snyder of Hot Springs; three brothers, Richard Whorton of California and Larry Whorton and Lonny Whorton of Benton; and nine grandchildren. A grave side service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Ouachita Cemetery with the Rev. Marshall Tanner officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Atkinson Funeral Home in Malvern. The family will meet after the services at Barbartha Whorton's home at 29213 Hwy 67 at Central.
