David Alexand Kyle, my grandfather, was the son James Benton Kyle and Sarah Frances Collins. He married Mary Elizabeth "Bettie" Terry in 1890. They had 11 children: Bertha Lee Kyle, Benjamin Franklin "Ben" Kyle, Cleo Pinta Kyle, Charles T. Kyle, Sarah Jane Kyle, Mamie Lee Kyle, Mary Elizabeth Kyle, David Wesley Kyle, Sr., and James Leslie "Soup" Kyle.

David A Kyle, 80, Buried Saturday in Houston Cemetery

Funeral rites conducted by the Rev. W C Stewart, were held at the Methodist Church Saturday afternoon for David Alexander Kyle, retired merchant and planter, who died Friday morning at his residence following an illness of nine days. He was 80 years old.

Mr. Kyle was born in Tuscaloosa County, Ala., coming to Houston a number of years ago. In 1889 he was married to Miss Mary Betty Terry.

When a young man he united with the Methodist Church.

Besides his wife he leaves seven daughters, Mrs. E C Harrington and Mrs Golda C Gray, of Memphis; Mrs. J H Adams of Elaine, Ark.; Mrs. Fred Jones, of North Carolina; Mrs. C L White, of Aberdeen; Mrs. James Bush, of Little Rock; Mrs. John Jamison, of Washington, D C, and three sons, James and Dave Kyle, of Houston, and Ben Kyle, of Calhoun City. He is also survived by two brothers, one sister, and seventeen grandchildren.

Acting as pallbearers were Hugh Johnson, Paschal Alexander, Henry Harrington, Ed Wooldridge, William Wicker and John E Davis.
