Bolt From 110 Volt Extension Kills J T Castel, 46

Tragedy struck in Houston about dusk Saturday when John Thomas Castle, 46, father of five young children, was electrocuted under his residence on Jamison Street as he worked on a joist with the aid of an extension cord that apparently shorted out and sent 110 volts of electricity charging into his body. It has been raining, and his feet were damp.

A cloak of gloom encircled this community as word quickly spread that Mr. Castle, Baptist deacon, Sunday School and BTU teacher, who was the close friend of young and old alike, had been accidentally killed.

His family was awaiting supper. Fifteen, perhaps 20 minutes passed. No noise could be heard under the house. His oldest son, Tommy, at 13, went to see about his father, found him motionless.

Artificial respiration failed after a physician was summoned.

Services From Church
Funeral services were conducted from the Houston Baptist Church Monday afternoon at 3 o'clock with the Rev. D D Satterwhite, pastor of the Rolling Forks, Miss., Baptist Church, and former local pastor, C S Thomas, pastor of the Houston Baptist Church, under whose ministry he was converted years ago when a young man at his family home in Kilmichael.

The huge number of beautiful floras attested to the esteem and devotion with which Mrs. Castle was held in this community.

As the services began, a quartet composed of Aaron Harrington, Joe Brigance, Robert Atkinson, and Bill Smith, III, sang softly—"There's No Friend To Me Like Jesus." And then after comforting words had been spoken to a bereaved family, Joe Brigance sang—"I Won't Have to Cross Jordan Alone." Mrs. Bill Hill was accompanist.

Final services were concluded at the grave in the Houston Cemetery with Kilgore-Norman Funeral Home in charge.
