Mrs. Jerusha Tyler, Member of Pioneer S.B. Family, Claimed
Mrs. Jerusha Hancock Tyler, 99, who was born in San Bernardino three months after her parents arrived in covered wagons in 1854, died Wednesday night at her home, 466 10th St.
Mrs. Tyler’s father and mother, Joseph and Nancy Hancock, journeyed to San Bernardino from Council Bluffs, Ia.
She was the widow of the late Charles H. Tyler, who with his brother, Joseph, and Stewart LaPraix operated a saw mill at Seeley Flats near the present community of Crestline.
Mrs. Tyler was the fourth of her parents’ seven children.
Shortly after they were married, Mr. and Mrs. Tyler built the house in which she has lived for 75 years at 466 10th St. Mrs. Tyler’s husband died in 1908.
She is survived by one son, Donald C. Tyler, Highland; one daughter, Mrs. J. S. Bright, San Bernardino; three grandchildren, Charles J. Bright, San Mateo; Mrs. Elsie Ann Roddick, Burbank and Mrs. Molly Tyler Anderson, Anoka, Minn., and five great grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mrs. Tyler will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Stephens & Bobbitt Funeral Home, followed by interment in Pioneer Memorial Cemetery.
Mrs. Tyler was a member of the First Church of Christ, Scientist.
