BURIED UNDER THE BUGGY
What might have resulted in a serious accident came in the shape of an “upset” on Third street about 5 o’clock last evening.
It seems that Sol Hancock, living out in the Mt. Vernon district had occasion to come to town yesterday and was going up Third street when the accident occurred. He was holding his little girl (3 yr.-old Eudora) on his lap while his son (Seneca), a boy of some 9 years, was driving. The thoroughfare just in front of the Great American Tea company’s store was somewhat blocked with teams and in attempting to drive around one of these carriages, the buggy was turned completely over, and the occupants under it.
The boy was the first to make his appearance from the mis up - pulling his little sister out with him, while bystanders soon righted the carriage and assisted Mr. Hancock, who was not so fortunate as his children, to his feet.
All of the were rather badly frightened, but only the father seemed to have suffered injuries that were worthy of mention, and these were judged to be nothing but temporary bruises.
