Brigham Delos Gardner, 85, died July 18, 1990, at the home of his oldest son in Provo UT.
Funeral services were held Saturday, July 21, at the Afton Tabernacle. Interment was in the Afton Cemetery.
He was born Jan 13, 1905, in Afton WY, the oldest son of Brigham D. and Maria Blacker Gardner. He married Camera Lorean Hepworth, Jan 6, 1928 in Afton. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She died Aug 20, 1984.
After attending normal school in Afton, he taught and was principal of the school in Grover. In 1939 he began work for the agricultural adjustment administration of the USDA. He returned to teaching in Star Valley schools. In 1950 he received the MEd from Utah State University and from then until 1966 was the Principal of Star Valley High School.
An active Latter-day Saint, he served as bishop of the Grover Ward for nine years, and as counselor in the Star Valley Stake Presidency for 19 years. He and his wife served as missionaries to Southern Australia in 1966,
He was an avid sportsman and excelled in several sports. He was a lifelong Democrat.
He was a man of strong loyal ties who was devoted to his immediate and extended family and lived a life of church and community service.
Hi is survived by eight children, B Delworth Gardner, Provo; Nola Jean Leavitt, Afton; Vivian Jones Bountiful; LaNiel Reasch, Powell; Harold gardner, Cheyenne; Julia Sarvey, Sheridan; Marjorie Bradshaw, Joel Gardner both of Orem. He had 37 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren. Surviving sisters and brothers are: Marguerite Konopnicki, Sunset; dorothy Cleghon Afton; Darrell Gardner, Clearfield;
Cumora Miles and Maxine Van Brocklin, both serving in theLondon, England LDS Mission; Genieve Bullard, Ogden. He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
