Genevieve Gardner Bullard
April 23, 1923 -- February 25, 2015

ROY - Genevieve Bullard passed away on Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at the age of 91. She was born and raised in her beloved Star Valley Wyoming, the twelfth of thirteen children born to Brigham Delos Gardner and Maria Blacker Gardner. After graduating from Star Valley High School, Genevieve left the beautiful valley to embark on a new adventure working in Washington, D.C. with 2 of her sisters, Maxine and Cumora.
When WWII began, Genevieve joined the Marine Corp so, "The boys behind the desks could leave to fight." While stationed in Santa Barbara, she met a dashing young Marine named Claude Leslie Bullard (Les) who had just returned from active duty in the South Pacific and was recovering from malaria. The two fell in love and were married on January 20, 1945, before Les returned to war. Their vows were later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They had been married for over 65 years when Les passed away on July 27, 2010.
After their time in the Marine Corp, the couple settled in Roy, Utah, where they raised eight children and lived for fifty years. Genevieve was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and served in various callings including Relief Society President, Gospel Doctrine Teacher, and Ward Choir Director for thirty years. Gen and Les also served a successful full-time LDS mission in the Oklahoma City, Oklahoma Mission.
Before moving into Peach Tree Place Assisted Living, Genevieve lived with her daughter, Kristie, for many years. The family is grateful to Kristie, her husband Robb, and their children for the devoted care and loving service they provided to Genevieve during those years. The family would also like to thank the staff at Peach Tree and Genevieve's personal physician at Veteran's Administration, Gretchen Alexander, for their diligent care and service.
Genevieve is survived by her children: Kathie (Steven) Smith, Kirk (Kristine), Kerry (Joyce), Lonnie (Kimberly), Steven, Corey (Ana), Troy (Shelly), and Kristie (Robb) Walker. She is also survived by 51 grandchildren, 81 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents, twelve siblings and their spouses, her loving husband, a daughter-in-law, Ardene R. Bullard (Lonnie), and a granddaughter, Krystal Dawn Walker.
We rejoice in the reunion she is having with the many family members and friends who have gone before her; especially her sweetheart, Les, whom she has longed for each and every day since his passing.

Interment in the Roy City Cemetery, with military honors accorded.
