Chico Enterprise-Record, Monday, November 5, 1956: "Emil (Dick) Gray. Emil (Dick) Clarence Gray, native of the Chico area, died Saturday at the Enloe Hospital. He was born near Dayton on Dec. 14, 1888. In 1916 Mr. Gray moved to Bend, Ore., where he worked as a lumberman. He later went into the trapping business at Sentex, Ore., and in the early 1930's moved to Lakeview, Ore., where he became a fireman for a lumber company. In 1940, Mr. Gray moved to Burney and continued working as a fireman. Four years ago he returned to Chico when ill health forced his retirement. Mr. Gray is survived by a brother, Alton B. Gray, of Chico, and several nieces and nephews, including Mrs. Opal Betty, Mrs. Laura Hovey and Alta Barham, all of Chico. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. in the Brusie Funeral Home and interment will be in the Dayton Cemetery."
