Chico Enterprise-Record, Monday, October 3, 1960: "Alton B. Gray. Alton B. Gray, life-long resident of this community, died in an Oroville hospital Sunday. Mr. Gray was born in Dayton on March 8, 1880, to John William and Margaret Gray, both natives of Illinois. After receiving his schooling, he engaged in grain and rice farming. For a number of years, he also was employed in the Nelson area. Mr. Gray, who had never married, is survived by several nieces and nephews including Mrs. W.D. Betty, Mrs. Laura Hovey and Mrs. Alta Barham, all of Chico. Funeral services will be conducted in the chapel of the Brusie Funeral Home Thursday at 3 p.m. and interment will be in the Dayton Cemetery."
