Lex Akers Jr.

Lex Akers Jr., 64, Shelburn, died at 2:05 p.m. Monday, Nov. 25, 1991, at Union Hospital, Terre Haute.

He was born Oct. 14, 1927, in Sullivan to Lex and Lizzie McCammon Akers, Sr. He was retired from Weston Paper in Terre Haute. He was a member of the First Pentecostal Church in Sullivan and Stewart-Norris Post 197 Shelburn American Legion. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and the Korean War.

Survivors include his wife, Annabell Bush Akers; one son, Jeff Akers, Shelburn; three daughters, Beverly "Susie" Starkey, Marshall, Ill., Vickie Brown, Waynesburg, Ky., and Toni Black, Sullivan; two brothers, Walter Akers and Clarence Akers, both of Gary; two sisters, Mildred Walters and Dorothy Wall, both of Sullivan; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services are at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the McHugh-Mattox Shelburn Chapel with the Rev. Gerald Holmes and the Rev. Barbara Black officiating. Burial is in Little Flock Cemetery with military graveside rites by the Shelburn American Legion. Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. today.
