Hiram Lester Thomas, eighty-three, died in the Ipher Nursing Home, Orangeville, yesterday morning at one o'clock.
County Coroner S. Earl McHenry investigated due to the fact that Mr. Thomas' own physician, Dr. Gordner, had preceded him in death. An autopsy was performed by Dr. Joseph Roth, Wilkes-Barre pathologist, and death was found due to strangulated inguinal hemia with general peritonitis.
Born and reared in Mt. Pleasant township, he had resided in Hemlock township most of his life. Until retiring about eight years ago, he was a farmer all of his life.
Mr. Thomas was a member of the Dutch Hill Reformed Church.
Surviving are one brother, Charles Thomas, Jeresytown; two sisters, Mrs. Hannah Gilbert, Frosty Valley, and Mrs. Anna Wilson, Bloomsburg R.D.1; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held from the Baker Funeral Home on Thursday afternoon at two-thirty with the Rev. D.L. Bomboy, pastor of the Buckhorn Lutheran Charge, officiating. Interment will be in the New Columbia Cemetery.
