Charles E. Thomas, eighty-one, Bloomsburg R.D.1, Jerseytown, died at three-thirty yesterday morning of complications at the Boone Nursing Home, Eyers Grove. He had been ill for the past three years and in the nursing home for four weeks.
He was born in Mt. Pleasant township and lived in Columbia county most of his life. He was engaged in farming and also served as custodian at Jerseytown school from 1945-56.
He and his wife, the former Jennie Correll, had observed their fifty-ninth wedding anniversary last June. He was a member of the Methodist Church, Jerseytown.
Surviving are his wife; three sons, Raymond, Bloomsburg R.D.1; Grier, Plainsboro, N.J.; Allen, West Brownsville, Pa.; two sisters, Mrs. Anna Wilson, Bloomsburg R.D.1 and Mrs. Hannah Gilbert, Weatherly; five grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Wednesday morning at ten at Baker Funeral Home, town, with the Rev. Raymond Wynn officiating. Burial will be at New Columbia cemetery.
