Lester B. Cookman, 76, died Friday at Community Hospital.

Resided at the home he inherited from his parents; 1429 West 10th St. A lifelong resident of Anderson, he served in the US Army in World War I. He was a draftsman at Delco-Remy for 37 years, retiring in 1962. Later he worked on the staff at Killbuck Park. He was a 52-year member of the Mount Moriah Lodge No. 77 and was commander of the Anderson Commandery in 1933 and was lodge treasurer for 30 years. He also was a member of the Temple Board. He was a member of the Otterbein United Methodist Church and he was active in the General Motors Retirees Club, serving as president in 1966.

Survivors include his widow Dorothy; two sons Samuel, Evansville, and Claude, Syracuse, N.Y.; and two grandsons.

Services will be at 11am Tuesday at the Rowe and Weston Funeral Home with burial in Maplewood Cemetery. Fraternal services will be conducted by the Anderson Commandery No. 32 at 7:30pm Monday.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 1 to 5pm and 7 to 9pm Sunday and Monday.
