Ray Cookman, 58, 1019 Chestnut St., died yesterday in St. John's Hospital, where he had been a patient for the past four weeks. Ill for only a short time, the deceased had been serious fr the past two weeks. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Minter Cookman and had been employed for many ears in the Model shop of Delco-Remy Division.

The body was removed to the Nuckols and Carmichael Funeral Home and will be taken to the residence today, where friends will be received after noon. Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 1:30 p.m. in the First Evangelical United Brethren Church by Dr. H.L. Lanahan, pastor. The remains will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to the services.

Mr. Cookman was a member of the Mt. Moriah Lodge No. 77, F. and A. M., the Anderson Commandery, Order of the Eastern Star No. 363, Markleville; White Shrine No. 11, Amaranth Court No. 18, Whetstone Brotherhood and Sisterhood.

Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Martha Ellen Cookman; three sons, Donald and Roger, both at home, and Richard, serving in the U.S. Navy in California; one step daughter, Mrs. Betty Jean Neal, Anderson, two step grandchildren, Sue Ellen and Scott Neal, both of Anderson, and two brothers, John Cookman, R. R. 1, Middletown, and Lester Cookman, Anderson.
