OBITUARY
MRS. HENRY GITTINGER DIES
Services for Mrs. Henry Gittinger, 94, were held Monday at 1:30 p.m. at the Beardsley Funeral Home with the Rev. Lester Hall officiating. Interment was in the Russell cemetery.
Mrs. Gittinger died at the Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines Friday morning after an illness of a few hours.
Most of her life was spent in Russell and Chariton. She had made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Grace Sugden, in Des Moines since 1954.
Her husband was owner and publisher of the Chariton Leader until 1921 and she was actively associated with him in the business. Mr. Gittinger sold the newspaper to the Leader Publishing Co. in 1921 and he retained stock interest and remained active until 1931 when he retired.
Besides Mrs. Sugden she is survived by a brother, David Goltry of Des Moines, five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
