HENRY W. GITTINGER PASSED AWAY TUESDAY

Henry W. Gittinger, long time resident of Lucas County, died at his home in Chariton Tuesday morning.

Mr. Gittinger was born in Washington Township in the Greenville neighborhood and at one time was operator of the Russell Newspaper, later owner and operator of the Chariton Leader. Even after his retirement from active newspaper work in 1930, he continued to write historical sketches of Lucas County and Washington Twsp., many of which were carried by this paper.

He is survived by his widow, one daughter and several grandchildren. A son preceded him in death in 1944.

Funeral services will be held at the Beardsley Funeral Home on Thursday, January 29 at 2 p.m. Burial will be in the Russell cemetery.
