Thursday, June 6, 1935

Mrs. Eva Murray was the oldest of ten children of the late William and Cordelia Goltry and was born at the family home in Cedar Township near the pioneer town of LaGrange on October 9, 1854. On October 29, 1874, she was united in marriage with the late John Murray who departed this life September 16, 1930. Their two daughters and only children, Mrs. Gertrude Larimer and Mrs. Myrtle Long survive and are residents of Des Moines.

There are also seven grandchildren, Misses Wanda and Louise Long and Gerald, Hubert, Adrian and Ruth Larimer of Des Moines and Mrs Perry Gray of Lenox, Iowa. Fifteen great grandchildren.

Since the decease of her companion her vitality gradually declined but with no acute illiness as the final day approached and on that morning she seemingly fell into a painless, peaceful sleep at the home of her daughter, Mr. D. B. Long in Des Moines.

Throughout a long adult life she had been a communicant of the Christian Faith and her nature was that of a kindly benevolence. Not only was sympathetic consideration shown to immediate family and friends but also in the broader contacts of life.

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the Baptist Church conducted by Rev. A. E. Beals. Interment was made in the Russell Cemetery.
