Walter William Oller, 84, of 48 1/2 N. Main Street, died in Graham Hospital Monday, July 1, 1957 in Canton, Illinois. A retired labor, he had lived in Canton for the past 40 years.

Walter was born January 19, 1873 in Taylorville, Christian County, Illinois the oldest of eleven children born to George Oller and Sarah Elizabeth Carman Oller. He married Luella (Ella) McKee February 4, 1894 in Menard County, Illinois. He and Ella later divorced. Luella married Joseph H. Curry March 21, 1899 in Menard County. They later divorced. Walter and Ella were the parents of one son, William Edward Oller, who was born June 5, 1895. After Walter and Ella divorced, Ed (as he was called)was raised by his grandparents, Charles P. Elliott and Elizabeth McKee Elliott. Ed died in a tragic accident April 18, 1911 at the age of 16 while working at the elevator in Oakford, Illinois. He was working in a grain bin when he was sucked down into the oats and suffocated.

Walter married Fredericka (Rickie) Mindrup, the daughter of George Mindrup and Lena Husman, on November 11, 1902 in Nokomis, Montgomery County, Illinois. He and Rickie were the parents of six children, Lena Mae and Ralph Herman Oller both born in Illinois, Charles Richard and George Walter Oller both born in Iowa and Clarence Lester and Sarah Marie Oller both born in South Dakota. Walter and Rickie were divorced in 1915.

Walter is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Mae Winchell and Mrs. Marie Wendt, both of Vivian, South Dakota; four sons, Richard and Clarence of Vivian, George of Rapid City, South Dakota and Ralph of Emery, South Dakota; four brothers, Robert of Peoria, John of Kilbourne, Charles of Morrisonville and Henry of Roxana, Illinois; three sisters, Mrs. Hulda Wempem of Raymond, Mrs. Etta Walcher and Mrs. Sina Skinner, both of Litchfield and a number of grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Gerard Funeral Home with burial in Greenwood Cemetery.
