December 13, After Several Years
of Illness

A mantle of sorrow was cast over the community, Monday evening, Dec. 13, when death claimed Mrs. B. L. Babcock, one of the dearest. mothers and most esteemed friends.

For the past several years Mrs. Babcock's health has not been the best. She bore her suffering patiently and cheerfully. Sunday, she spent the day seemingly in little pain and with much faith that she was better. However, at noon Monday, a change came over her and the end came Mon- day evening at twenty minutes after eleven o'clock.

The funeral was held Thursday, at the home at 2:00 o'clock, conducted by Rev. C. N. Hamrin, of M. E. church. Undertaker D. McGowan and Clifford Ferguson were in charge of arrangements. The remains were laid to rest in the family lot at Concord.

Sarah Amelia Fogelson, daughter of Bennett and Wilhelmina Foge1son, was born, August 17, 1868, at Skyberg, Minnesota, and at the time of her departure was 69 years, 4 months and 26 days of age.

In 1887 she was united in marriage to Birdge L. Babcock. Their first years of married life they spent in and near Kenyon. Later they moved near this village, living 43 years where they now reside.

To this union fourteen children were born: Minnie, at home; (Lillie) Mrs. Julius Peterson, of Skyberg; (Sarah. Etta) Mrs. Claude Uptagrafft, of Dodge Center, (Ruth) Mrs. Martin Nelson; Birdge, Anna and (Edna) Mrs. Joseph Kartel, of this village; George Aaron died in 1918, Marland Austin in 1923, and 5 chi1dren in infancy.

Beside her husband and children she leaves to morn her loss twenty-four grand-children, one great-grand-child; two sisters, two brothers and a host of relatives and friends.
Mrs.. Babcock was a member of the Methodist Church, the Woman's Relief Corps, and the American Legion Auxiliary to all of which she has been a faithful member. She was a Gold Star Mother.
