Dr. Samuel Addison Marable, I, was the son of Dr. John Hartwell Marable, II, and Evelina Helen Hutchison Smith Marable. He was a lifelong resident of the area in which he was born and was a very prominent physician for many years. He was married 4 times but all his children were born to his first wife, Elizabeth Madison Jackson, daughter of Dr. James Madison Jackson and Mary Corban. He had some 10 children. He lived on an Estate in Corbandale callled "Rosehill". At the foot of his estate is a railroad crossing called "Marable's Crossing". He was the only "country doctor" for miles around. He traveled by horseback, horse and buggy, and crossed the river by canoe. His patients came to his house or called him to come to their house at all times, day or night.
