Norbert Joseph Rimelspach, 96, formerly of Fremont, went home to God on Sunday, April 13, 2008, at Elizabeth Scott Community in Toledo. He was born Dec. 13, 1911 to Filbert and Margaret Rimelspach in Ballville Township. Norbert was a 1930 graduate of St. Ann High School, Fremont, and his boys basketball team won the city championship that year. He married Ila Marie Bartholomew in 1937, at St. Ann's Catholic Church, where he was a member. He was a longtime farmer with his brother Robert and later with nephews Tom and David. He enjoyed following the Cleveland Indians baseball team. A resident of Elizabeth Scott for 10 years, he was very active, helping others, gardening and walking almost daily. He is survived by sons, Jerry (Penny), of South Bend, Indiana, Ron (Robin) of Toledo, Rick (Shelli) of Fort Wayne, Indiana; a daughter Joann of Napoleon; a brother, William (Irene) of Fremont, sisters Rita Koch of Fremont, Ruth Harrison of Toledo, Sister Francis of Assisi (Gertrude) of Toledo; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Ila, a brother, Robert, and a sister, Mary. Visitation is 3-6 p.m. Sunday at Keller-Ochs-Koch Funeral Home, 416 S. Arch St., Fremont. Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Ann's Catholic Church. Memorials are to St. Ann's Catholic Church. Burial to follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. The family would like to especially thank the Elizabeth Scott Community for their wonderful care they provided over the years for Norbert.
