DEATH OF MRS. SMALLWOOD
Dies Monday at Home of Daughter, Mrs. Jack Scott, at Age of 74
---Mr. Anna Amanda Smallwood, for many years a resident of Knox County, died at 5:30 o'clock Monday afternoon at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Jack Scott, near Hurdland. She was 74 years old and had been an invalid for some time. Mrs. Smallwood suffered a stroke several days before her death.
---The body lay in state at the Easley Funeral Home in Hurdland until the funeral, which was at 10 o'clock yesterday morning at the Hurdland Methodist Church by the Rev. J. H. Lane of Brashear. Burial was in the Baker cemetery northwest of Edina.
---Surviving are five children: Dessie, Mrs. Scott, at whose home death came; Archilda, Mrs. George Conder, Hurdland; Edith, Mrs. Jerry Parrott, Wichita, Kan.; Sylvester Smallwood, Bowers, Mont., and William Smallwood, address unknown.
---As Anna Amanda Roberts, a daughter of Daniel and Elizabeth Roberts, Mrs. Smallwood was born Aug. 18, 1861, near Coatsburg, Ill. When a small girl she came in a covered wagon with her parents to Knox County, where they settled four miles north of Baring.
---She married William Smallwood June 4, 1882, and to them were born eight children, the five mentioned as surviving, two sons who died in infancy and Mrs. Mary E. Bridgeman, who died Dec. 5, 1930.
---Mr. Smallwood died Jan. 7, 1912, and Mrs. Smallwood moved in 1924 to Hurdland, where she lived until 1933, since when she made her home with her children.
