Mr. Barker was owner of B&S Auto Sales. He served at sea with the Merchant Marines. He was a Mason and a member of Gloster Lodge No. 399 F&AM. He was former mayor of the town of Gloster, past president of the Gloster Chamber of Commerce, a charter member of the Pine Hills Country Club, fire chief, a member of the Mississippi Housing Authority Board, announcer for little league baseball and board member of the Portuguese Water Dog Association. He was an avid supporter of Ole Miss athletics. He was a member of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifton Eugene and Lillie Marie Miller Barker; four brothers, Riley Barker, Carl Elton Barker, Thomas Barker and Charles Barker; and two sisters, Louise Barker and Yvonne LeBeouf.

He was survived by his wife of 55 years, Imogene N. Barker of Gloster; two sons, Dale Barker and wife Martha of McComb, and Ray Barker of Fort Walton Beach, FL; three daughters, Patti Richardson and husband Chris of Gloster, Debbi Brock and husband Tommy of McComb, and Betti Dooley and husband John of St. Francisville, LA; two brothers, L.D. "Bill" Barker and L.V. Barker; five sisters, Eula Lee Strong, Mattie Zell Drummond, Hazel Goza, Earline Welch and Bettie Carolyn Culpepper; and 10 grandchildren.
