MARTHA ELLEN FRANCIS, 92, DIES WEDNESDAY
Martha Ellen Francis passed away at her home in La Plata on Wednesday, July 1, at the age of 92 after being in failing health the past eight years.
She was born June 4, 1872 in Knox County, the daughter of Howell and Mary Cupp. She was married on May 15, 1892 to Charles O. Francis and to this union one daughter, Jessie, was born, who survives.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1940.
Mrs. Francis was affliated with the Tansil-Grantges department store for eighteen years and was a member of the Christian Church.
She and Mr. Francis moved to La Plata in 1906 and she has lived in her present home for 54 years.
Services will be held Friday, July 3, at the La Plata Christian Church. Burial will be in the La Plata Cemetery under direction of the Wilson Funeral Home.
