C.O. FRANCIS DIES AFTER LONG ILLNESS

C.O. Francis, a life-long resident, passed away this morning, Thursday, after an illness of more than 17 months, although he stood his suffering patiently.
As Charles O. Francis, a son of William H. and Mary E. (Lilburn) Francis, he was born in Macon County, Jan. 22, 1866, and lived in and near La Plata all his 74 years.
On May 15, 1892, he was united in marriage to Miss Martha E. Cupp, who survives. Also surviving is one daughter, Jessie Francis, who is employed at the Tansil-Grantges department store here. He also leaves one sister, Mrs. R.C. Underwood of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Canada; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
His funeral service will be held from the La Plata Christian Church Saturday afternoon. Burial will be made in the La Plata Cemetery.
Mr. Francis was a member of the Star Christian Church, having joined early in life.
Mr. & Mrs. Francis first went to housekeeping in Adair County, but moved to La Plata in 1906.
