Rita was born Margaret 2nd in Barnaboy, Brusna, Ballaghaderreen, Co. Roscommon to John aged 59 and Bridget aged 38. She had a sister called Margaret also who died aged 11. in 1900 of rheumatic fever, and was named after her. She studied nursing briefly in the UK but chose not to complete it and wed her sweetheart Con McGreevy on January 23rd 1928 aged 22. They ran a very successful confectionary business together from Cathedral Street in Ballaghaderreen which her family continue to run.
She was a fun lady. Full of stories and always a lovely warm smile.
