Pat as he was known was briefly a serving member of the GardaSiochana having joined in 1922,. He was stationed in Co Longford and would cycle home on his weekends off. He left the Gardai to follow his sweetheart Mae Cassidy from Carracastle and who had emigrated to the USA. They married there. And Following his return to Ireland in 1932 they took over they family farm and went on to have 8 children together.He was a great singer and entertainer. He developed throat cancer at 75 and died in 1972.
