John Towey, Sligo Road Ballaghaderreen and formerly of Aughalustia and born in Barnaboy, Brusna, Ballaghaderreen Co Roscommon. He was a member of An Garda Siochanna. He joined on the 9th November 1922 and retired as Sergent on June 18th 1957. He was stationed in Ferbane, Clonbur, Newtownmountkennedy, Dundalk, Ashbourne, Ballybrittas, Rahan and Dunleer}.
He married his wife Betty in Adam and Eve Church, Merchants Quay Dublin on 14th September 1949. Their son Patrick was born March 19th 1951.
He died on April 28th 1979 at his home in Ballaghaderreen, and he was buried on May 1st 1979 follwing requiem mass in St Nathy's Cathedral.
