Born to Peter and Lydia Salmond, Jeannie was one of 12 children. They moved from Elmo, Ottertail County north to Badger about 1895.
In a letter to her brother Peter, and sister in law Gyda Salmond, shortly before her marriage, Jean talks about her excitement in planning to get married. She and Henry were married 8 Nov. 1905, at the St. Aloysius Catholic Church, not far from her mom and dad's farm at Badger Minnesota.
Jean died less than a year after her little daughter, Catherine, was born. Catherine, was raised by her Coughlin relations.
