Surviving are his wife, Laianada, Wakarusa, sons, Collin (Jackie) Schieber, Wakarusa, Darin (Becky) Schieber, Nappanee, Dirk Schieber, New Paris, grandchildren, Alexandra, Brett & Austin Schieber and a great-grandchild, Addilynn Schieber.
Preceding him in death are his parents and siblings, Marie, Fern, DeVon, Walter & Paul.
Dean was a 1950 graduate of Wakarusa High School, served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Wakarusa United Methodist Church. He was a hog farmer and also worked at Excel, Wayne Feed Supply and United Roll Forming. Dean was an avid fan of NorthWood Sports, White Sox, Notre Dame and Purdue. He was a member of the Elkhart County Pork Producers and the National Hampshire Association. Dean ran the Open Class Swine Show at the Elkhart County 4-H Fair. He especially enjoyed watching his kids and grandkids in 4-H club.
Private family services will be held with Pastor Scott Mann officiating. Burial will be in Olive (West) Cemetery. Memorial donations may be directed to the Elkhart County Pork Producers Scholarship Fund, 72531 CR 19, Milford, Indiana 46542.
