NICK ANLICKER, OF UNION TOWNSHIP, MEETS A TERRIBLE DEATH
----------------
SATURDAY NIGHT WHILE COMING HOME
----------------
As Nick Anlicker, a wealthy German living about three miles northwest of town, was going home last Saturday evening in an intoxicated condition, he was struck by one of the through freights going west, and his body literally torn to pieces, parts of it being carried as far as Purgatory bridge, three miles west of town. He was discovered about 11 o'clock that night by a ditcher, Thomas Finley, who quickly notified the residents of the community.
A group of men went out from town with a hand car and brought his remains back with them. He is said to be the owner of a large farm and carries about $5,000 life insurance. He leaves a wife and nine children to mourn his sad fate. We sincerely hope that the man who sold him the damnable liquor will live long enough to secure forgiveness for his sin from God, that he might not have to spend his eternity in company with the man whose soul he helped to damn.
He was buried Tuesday.
