She was one of fourteen children born to Margaret Jane (Vallely) and James B. Rock, who were (married) immigrants from the townland of Cladybeg, County Armagh, Ireland to the U.S. in 1866, emigrating to Vermont. Two of her sisters died young: Ellen (1878-1880) and Sarah (1886-before 1900).
Alice was the wife of Joseph Harrison Gwynn, whom she married on 6 Jan 1910 in Boston, Massachusetts. She was the mother of five children, Weldon J., Evelyn E., Marion R., Joseph W., and Charles J. Gwynn.
