BRAMWELL — Elisha Paul "Pert" Haynes Sr., 89, of Haynes Road (PO Box 1072), Bramwell, died on Friday, March 31, 2006 in a Bluefield hospital.
Born on Aug. 27, 1916 in Freeman, he was a son of the late Elisha and Abbie Powell Haynes. He had been a resident of Bramwell all of his life and was a member of the Bramwell United Methodist Church. He was a graduate of Bramwell High School and was a retired construction worker who worked around the coal mines. He was a member of the Bramwell Masonic Lodge.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Gladys Tabor Haynes and his second wife, Grace Atwell Henderson Haynes; a son, James E. Haynes; two brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include three sons, Michael Haynes and wife Marie of Vero Beach, Fla., Paul Haynes II and wife Mary Ann of Raleigh, N.C., and David Haynes of Bluewell; two daughters, Pamela Powers and husband Darrell of Lynchburg, Va., and Dawn Ballantyne of Austin, Texas; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; special great granddaughter, Sydney Haynes; three brothers, Ronnie Haynes and wife Susan of Fraziers Bottom, Lewis Haynes of Bluefield, and Ray Haynes and wife Marie of King William, Va.; one sister, Marjorie Rakestraw of Maunee, Ohio; and special friend, Angie Mitchell.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Monday at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with the Rev. Rick Duncan officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton.
Friends may call today from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
