Mr. John Hildyer Maddox, 62, entered into rest Thursday, September 21, 1950, at his residence on Wrightsboro Road, Augusta, Georgia after a lengthy illness. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday at Marks Baptist Church with the Rev. Joseph S. Dukes and the Rev. Leroy Harris officiating. Interment will be in Pierce Chapel Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Homer Anthony, Wilson Bryant Sr. Albert Haddleson, Glenn R. Mills, W.W. Matthews and George W. Reynolds. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Men's Bible class of Marks Baptist church. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Fannie Pearre Maddox; three sons, John W. Maddox of Jacksonville, Fla., Jesse C. Maddox and Clifford S. Maddox of Augusta; four daughters, Mrs. Thelma Brown, Miss Dorothy Maddox and Mrs. Charles Foley of Augusta, and Mrs. Reginald Lawton of Willington, S.C.; 11 grandchildren; one brother, R.W. Maddox of Augusta, and a sister, Mrs. Benton Jones of Augusta. Elliott Sons.
