Cross, 68, when the express train of the Illinois Central railroad struck and killed him instantly Saturday morning at 10:40 o'clock, near the Pet Milk Company plant. After talking with his daughter, Mrs. Estelle Williams, an employee of the Pet Milk Company, Mr. Cross was on his way to Winona to transact business.He is survived by: His wife, Mrs. Beulah Cross; two sons, Berlin and Vernon Cross, both of Vaiden; two step-sons, Jason Mann of Orange, Texas, and Andrew Mann of Vaiden; five daughters, Mrs. W. C. Scoggins, Mrs. L. W. Tindoll of Vaiden, Mrs. George Richardson of Grenada, Mrs. E. L. Tindoll of Poplar Creek, Mrs. 0. L. Williams of Winona; 23 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. W. Z. Braswell of Itta Bena, also a host of relatives and friends. Masonic funeral services were held at 3 o'clock Sunday afternoon at Hebron Baptist Church, of which he had been a member for over 30 years. The deceased was a past master of the Applewhite Masonic Lodge. Oliver Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements with Rev. W. M. Hull, pastor, saying the last rites.Last rites were held at Hebron church at 3:00 p. m. Sunday with Rev. W. M. Hull, pastor, conducting the services. Interment was in the cemetery there. Oliver Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.Mr. Cross was a prominent farmer of the Hebron community where he had resided for about 40 years.
