Robert Henry Austin

Robert Henry Austin, sawmill operator and ginner of Kilmichael, died at his residence on Tuesday, August 13, following an extended illness. Funeral services were held at Kilmichael Methodist Church Wednesday afternoon at 3 o'clock with the Rev. Paul Brown officiating. Interment was in Kilmichael cemetery under the direction of Lee Funeral Home. Masons served as pallbearers with Masonic rites being held at the graveside.

Born in Montgomery County on May 20, 1887, Mr. Austin was married to the former Miss Ronnie Burton on Dec. 27, 1908. He was a member of Kilmichael Methodist Church & a Mason.

Survivors include his wife, 6 daughters, Miss Grace Austin, Mrs. Grady Ellis, Mrs. Mac Wilson, all of Kilmichael, Mrs. E.H. Fox and Mrs. Johnnie Kelly, both of Greenville & Mrs. Eugene Griffith, Shreveport, La.; one son, Boyce Austin, Kilmichael; five sisters, Mrs. Lute Crook, Morehead, Mrs. George Booth, Kilmichael, Mrs. Lama Fultz, Memphis, Mrs. John Quinn, Carthage; four brothers, Charles Austin, Ashley Austin, Bryant Austin, all of Kilmichael and Noel Austin, West Point; 22 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
