Miss Vadie Fordyce
After lingerng for some time, and almost hourly waiting her release from this world of pain and suffering, Vadie Fordyce, daughter of Silas Fordyce, of Rogersville, heard the call of the angel of death on Tuesday, April 25, 1905. Vadie had suffered with that dread disease consumption for more than two years, and in all this time there was no word of complaint, being for some time perfectly resigned to her fate. Vadie early in life gave herself to the Master and became a member of the Willow Grove Christian church. Frequently we met with her to read and pray and a number of times she asked for the communion and a few intimate friends enjoyed this service with her. When life was ebbing away Vadie was very happy and had visions and dreams of heaven, and in her fancy saw her mother , who had gone on before, waiting to welcome her to that place where partings will be no more. She loved the sweet songs of Zion, and made the arrangements for her funeral service, desiring it to be held in the home church at Willow Grove. A large number of friends followed Vadie to her resting place, and through their tears rejoiced in the bright hope of the christian heart. Beside her father and stepmother she is survived by five brothers and three sisters, the latter being: Mrs. William Moore, of Holbrook; W. L. Fordyce of Bluff; Jesse Fordyce, Washington, Pa.;Mrs. Joseph Orndoff, of Oak Forest; Mrs. J. L. Kiger, of Harveys; Arch, Garfield and Frank of Rogersville.
