Archibald G. Fordyce

A veteran of the Spanish-American War, Archibald Guthrie Fordyce, 71, Washington, R.D. 4, died Sunday, June 27, 1948, at 2:15 a.m. in the Washington Hospital, where he had been a patient for six months. He had been ill for one year.

A native of Greene County, he was born August 1, 1876 in Center Township, a son of the late Silas and Jane Orndoff Fordyce. His wife, Delilah Hamilton Fordyce, survives.

A farmer, he spent the lat 17 years of his life in Washington County. He was a member of the Willow Grove Christian Church, of the Washington Post, Veterans of Foreign Wars and James Farrell Post No. 330, American Legion, Waynesburg. He saw service in the Spanish-American War with Company K, 10th Infantry.

Surviving besides his wife are four children, Ralph, Claysville, R.D. 2; Silas, Waynesburg, R.D. 2; Theodore, Claysville, and Mrs. Georgia Phillips, Washington, R.D. 4; eight grandchildren; and two brothers, W. L. Fordyce, Waynesburg, R.D. 5 and Garfield Fordyce, McClellandstown. Two brothers and four sisters are deceased.

FORDYCE - Funeral services for Archibald Guthrie Fordyce, of Washington R. D. 4, formerly of Greene County, who died Sunday, June 27, 1948, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 29, at the Scott Funeral Home, Rogersville, in charge of the Rev. Thomas Presnell. Burial will be in Rosemont Cemetery, with services at graveside in charge of James Farrell Post, American Legion, Waynesburg. Friends received in the funeral home after 4 p.m. Monday (today). Scott Funeral Service, in charge.
