Garfield Fordyce, 74, former Jackson Township farmer, died at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, July 16, 1955, in the Uniontown Hospital following an operation which he underwent there Thursday.

A son of Silas and Jane Orndoff Fordyce of Hargus Creek he was born July 2, 1881. He had lived in Fayette County the past 27 years and was a member of the New Salem Presbyterian Church. He was married June 25, 1904 to Alice Haines who preceded him in death April 18, 1952. The following sons and daughters survive: Mrs. Ruth Davis of Los Angeles, Calif.; Eugene Fordyce of Willowick, O.; Mrs. Pauline Barry of Cleveland, O.; William Fordyce of Euclid, O.; Fred Fordyce of Monaca, Claude Fordyce of Lambert, Ivan Fordyce at home and Mrs. Mabel Hoge of Rogersville. One daughter, Gladys, is deceased, as are two grandchildren, and nine brothers and sisters. He also leaves 26 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and one brother, W. L. Fordyce of Waynesburg R. D. 5.
