Daniel- Wasatch County, Beloved father, brother, grandfather, Ralph Alonzo Thacker, 85, died September 11, 1981, in a Provo hospital.
Born October 30, 1895, in Buysville (Daniel), Utah, to John and Eliza Ann Winterton Thacker. Graduated from Wasatch High School and Brigham Young University. He served in the U.S. Army from 1918 to 1919 and was a member of the American Legion. He married Ethel Jemima Jacklin, November 12, 1924, in the Salt Lake Temple. They lived in American Fork, Provo, Moroni and Heber City. He taught industrial arts and math at Moroni High School. In 1934, the couple bought a farm in Daniel, Wasatch County, and built their present home. He was employed for many years as a carpenter and builder. He was an active High Priest in the Daniel Ward. He was a missionary in Samoa from 1919 to 1923 and served as a stake missionary and ward financial clerk. In 1956, he served as a labor missionary in Samoa and the Fiji Islands.
Survivors: wife, of Daniel; children: Mrs. Doyle (Dona) Sweat, Mrs. Hilda Patterson, and Lynn D. Thacker, all of Heber City; Mrs. Lars (Zina) Jenkins, Lehi; Ralph L. Thacker and J. Reed Thacker, both of Salt Lake City; 32 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters: Fay E. Thacker, Clearfield; Horton T. Thacker and Afton M. Thacker, Heber City; J. Weston Thacker, Mesa Arizona; Mrs. Chloe Slade, Kaysville; Mrs. Aurta Rigby, Salt Lake City.
Funeral services will be Monday, 1:00 p.m., in the Daniel Ward Chapel. Friends may call Olpin Mortuary of Heber City, Sunday, 6-8 p.m., and one hour prior to services. Burial Heber City Cemetery.

The children of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph A. Thacker, Heber, will honor their parents at a golden wedding open house Saturday at the Daniel Ward Cultural Hall. Mr. Thacker is the son of John and Eliza Ann Winterton Thacker. He was born in Buysville, Wasatch County and graduated from Wasatch High Young University. He served in the U. S. Army from 1918 to 1919.
Mrs. Thacker was born to Ernest and Emma Casper Jacklin in American Fork, She was educated in Wasatch County Schools.
The couple were married November 12, 1924 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They have lived in Heber City, American Fork and Provo. In 1928 they moved to Moroni where Mr. Thacker taught Industrial Arts in high school.
In 1931 the couple bought a farm in Daniel, Wasatch County and built their present home. Mr. Thacker was employed for many years as a carpenter and builder.
The couple have both been active in the LDS Church, serving in many capacities. Mr. Thacker was a missionary in Samoa from 1919 to 1923 and has served as a stake missionary and as ward financial clerk. In 1956 the couple served as labor missionaries in Samoa and the Fiji Islands, Mrs. Thacker has served as Relief Society secretary and as a primary teacher.
The Thackers have six living children: Mrs. Doyl V. (Dona) Sweat, Heber City; Mrs. Lars E. (Zina) Jenkins, Lehi; Ralph L. Thacker, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Bob J. (Hilda) Patterson, Heber City; Lynn D. Thacker, Provo and J. Reed Thacker, Salt Lake City. The couple have 31 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
