Samuel Lesser

August 28, 1921 - December 12, 2018

In the comfort of his home in Loveland, Colorado, on December 12, 2018,
Samuel (Sam) Lesser peacefully passed into eternity. He was born August 28,
1921 in Barr Lake, Colorado to Russian immigrants, Henry Lesser and Elizabeth
Schissler of Brighton, Colorado. Being one of the younger siblings of twelve, he
was just another integral part of a sustainable farming family.

He left the farm at the age of 21 to enlist in the U. S. Army and entered the WWII
European theatre, active in North Africa, Italy, France, Belgium, and Germany.
Later, he was active in the Korean War and postwar. His decorations include,
the Silver Star and a Purple Heart, among others. Most recently, the French
Legion of Honor from France, was presented October 11, 2017.

After returning from WWII in 1945, he married Marian L. Beuhler of Berthoud,
Colorado and enjoyed 38 years together. He continued to serve in the military,
ending his career at Fitzsimons Army Medical Hospital in Aurora. They were
blessed with a son and daughter. After 35 years service in the U. S. Army,
Samuel retired and moved with Marian to Loveland, Colorado in 1976. Marian
passed away in 1983, after a lengthy illness.

Later, he married Ura Jeanne Nelson in 1984 and enjoyed 30 years with her until
her death in 2014.

Sam was a Colorado outdoors enthusiast, enjoying fishing, camping and
traveling. The grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the highlight of his
later years and he enjoyed the extra fun activities that they brought into his life.
Sam loved being active at United Methodist Church of Loveland, and more
recently, at Chapel of the Interlude in Drake, Colorado.

He is survived by his son, Milton D. Lesser (Karen L.) of La Porte, and daughter,
Barbara J. Blanks (Richard J.) of Loveland, Colorado. He was blessed with six
grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Both parents, his wives and all
siblings of Samuel predeceased him.

Samuel lived a full life of 97 years . . . the patriarch of our family. Loved, honored
and enjoyed by many, he will be sorely missed. May he rest in peace.

You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You. Isaiah 26:3
