Blanche Tolar Stainback was born September 18, 1911 in Dillon County, South Carolina, one of ten children of James Murchison "Merk" Tolar and Annie Laurie King Tolar. Blanche married Morris Joseph Stainback, and they were the parents of James Morris Stainback and Thomas Ray Stainback. She was a graduate of Dillon High School and McLung's Business College. Blanche was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church, where she was a volunteer and former Sunday school teacher. She was a member of the charter chapter of ABWA, where she was named in 1978 Woman of the Year. For a time she worked with Iowa National Mutual Insurance Company as an underwriter and was later president and co-owner of Stainback Insurance and Realty Company. Blanche died at age 93 on June 16, 2005 in Greensboro, Guilford County, North Carolina and is buried at the Dr. Clyde M. Gilmore Memorial Park Cemetery in Julian, Guilford County, North Carolina.
