Mr. James "Booty" Durrett, 83, son of the late Mr. Willis Durrett and Mrs. Betty Elizabeth Bennett Durrett, was born December 17, 1888 in Green County and departed this life at 2:20 p.m. Sunday, August 6, 1972 in the Jewish Hospital in Louisville.
He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Summersville Baptist Church, where he had served as a Deacon for a number of years.
He united in marriage to Miss Betty Alice Garr December 27, 1913 and she preceded him in death April 21, 1960. To this union were born eight sons and two daughters. Surviving are: Earl, Finis and Alfonso Durrett all of Greensburg; Hamilton, Ores and C. D. Durrett all of Louisville.
Mr. Durrett is also survived by two brothers: O. T. Durrett and Levi Durrett, both of Summersville; 17 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, August 8, 1972 in the Summersville Baptist Church with burial in the Aetna Grove Cemetery. Revs. D. L. Durien, Thurman Eaton and Leon Larimore officiated.
Active pallbearers were Earl Durrett, Finis Durrett, Hamilton Durrett and Ores Durrett.
