Services Held at Maeser Wednesday For William Ashby.
Funeral services for William Ashby, 65, who died at his home late Friday resulting from a heart ailment were conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Maeser Chapel.
Mr. Ashby was born at Spanish Fork in 1879. He came to the Ashley Valley in 1900 where he engaged in farming. He was an active member in the LDS Church and filled two missions to the Southern States. He was twice a member of the Maeser bishopric and at one time served as Sunday School superintendent.
He married Alice McCain in 1909 who survives in addition to three sons and one daughter Mrs. Edna A. Vernon of Vernal; Corporal Eldon H. Ashby, US Army Air Corps, DeRider, Louisiana; Dale Ashby seamen first class US Coast Guard Honolulu and Glen Ashby Jensen and four grandchildren also the following brothers and sisters Wells Ashby of Vernal; John Ashby Murray, Don Ashby, Salt Lake and Elias Ashby, Spanish Fork and three sisters, Mrs. Atta Murray, Altonah; Leona Hall, Maeser and Mary Smith, Santaguin.

Services Held at Maeser For William Ashby.
Funeral services for William Ashby, 65, who died Friday August 11, were conducted last Wednesday at the Maeser Chapel at 2 p.m. with Ed Bodily, first counselor, conducting.
Prayer at the home was offered by Thos. E. Hall. At the chapel a Seventies male quartet composed of Warren Jones, Neldon Richens, Arvine Cooper and John Hodginson sang, "Oh My Father," accompanied by Mrs. Jones. Invocation was by John L. McConkie.
A duet by Mrs. John Jorgensen and Mrs. Wallace Calder, "Softly and Tenderly Jesus Is Calling," accompanied by Mrs. John Stagg, preceded the first speaker, Carl R. Richens. The next number was a vocal solo by George Davis, "Going Home," accompanied by Mrs. Stagg.
Mr. Bodily made remarks of appreciation and the male quartet sang the concluding selection, "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere," accompanied by Mrs. Jones. Benediction was by James B. Murray.
Pallbearers were two sons, Eldon and Glen, and four brothers, Wells, John, Don and Elias Ashby. Interment was in the Fairview Cemetery with Thos. B. Smith dedicating the grave.
Those attending the services from distant points included Mr. and Mrs. John L. Ashby of Murray and daughter, Geneva A. Pearson of Clearfield; Mrs. Eldon Ashby of Jay, Oklahoma; Corporal Eldon Ashby of De Rider, Louisiana and Mrs. James B. Murray and Mr. and Mrs. Lester Maxfield of Altonah; Mr. and Mrs. Don C. Ashby of Salt Lake City; Mr. and Mrs. Thos. B. Smith of Santaquin and daughter Elvida; Mr. and Mrs. Elias Ashby of Spanish Fork and Mrs. Elias Bona of Spanish Fork.

William married Georgia Alice McCain on November 3, 1909 in Marlow, Stephen County, Alabama.
They had seven children: William Buria Ashby, Williard McCain Ashby, Edna Grace Ashby, Ronald Elmo Ashby, Eldon Howard Ashby, Glen Carlos Ashby and Dale Reid Ashby.
